A Hard Lesson That Took Me a Long Time to Accept

Standing up for what you believe in is brave, bold, and the only way change happens. But what is also necessary is compassion for where others are at in their journey, acceptance that everyone is entitled to their own opinion- even if you know that their opinion isn't supported by evidence or could be proved wrong.

This is something I've struggled with often over the years. Particularly when I find myself integrating back into the "real world of competition horses". Finding the balance. Finding where to "Draw the Line" between what's a welfare issue and what is part of an individual’s journey and growth- because none of it is black and white. It's all a million shades of grey.

Forcing someone else to change is often nothing more than loud words falling into deaf ears.

What's ironic is that the more quietly you go about doing what you do, the more people take notice; they ask questions. They begin to listen and show interest.

I've seen many posts on social media lately of trainers taking videos others have posted and voicing over them with explanations of why everything that was said or done is wrong.

I get it... It's frustrating to feel helpless because you really want to help. But publicly humiliating others isn't the answer... healthy discussion and being and doing what makes you authentically you is.

Actions plant more seeds than words.
